Original Composition

When I was young, my parents always told me that I could do anything if I tried. That belief remains, which leads me to say that I guess I have an adequacy complex. I'm no professional musician, but with the right tools, I can do a passable job of expressing thought in music. Maybe you'll disagree, but at least I'm having fun.

My premiere work (if you want to call it that) is currently called "Untitled, Unfinished (Opus 1)". As the title (or lack thereof) states, the work isn't finished yet, but you can listen to it and read all about it.

A few weeks later, while transcribing some Eubie Blake rags, I got the idea that I could write a rag. I could be wrong, but I started and you can see what happened. It needs a lot of work and a couple different themes to replace some repetition, but here is "Just The One (Opus 2)".

Later on, I got the composing bug again while I was at the keyboard, and the result was another rag (or at least the beginnings of one). I call this one "Sore Feet."

Opus 4 is another as-yet untitled work, this one just the start of an Irish whistle song. It needs a lot of work, a chorus, and some lyrics. (And a title.) But it's a start.
